DAY 1 – Yungaburra Highlights
The tour begins in the early afternoon with a 3km interpretive walk or cycle along the PETERSON CREEK BOTANICAL AND WILDLIFE TRACK as we search for our unique Platypus and Tree Kangaroos. We then cycle or walk the YUNGABURRA VILLAGE HERITAGE TRAIL and continue on to LAKE TINAROO to view this grand expanse of water. We transfer back to your lodgings and the rest of the evening is at guests leisure.
DAY 2 – Crater Lakes, Curtain Fig Tree and Hasties Swamp
We start the day with a relaxing 3km circuit walk around the mystical LAKE EACHAM viewing the ancient rainforest and wildlife before driving to LAKE BARRINE for the famous Lake Barrine Cruise and Devonshire Tea. We then transfer to the CURTAIN FIG TREE for a stroll around this magnificent natural feature. In the late afternoon we take a short drive to HASTIES SWAMP to watch the spectacular display of Brolgas and Sarus Cranes as they make their way to their evening roosting sites. The rest of the evening is at guests leisure.
DAY 3 – Granite Gorge and Mareeba
Today we would like to introduce you to the local ROCK WALLABY community at GRANITE GORGE RESERVE via Mareeba. This relaxing tour will take up most of the morning but is well worthwhile as we are able to have close interaction with these beautiful creatures. In the afternoon we drive to Mareeba to view kangaroos and local bird species. We enjoy a late lunch at BRIDGES TEA HOUSE and then transfer back to Yungaburra. The evening is at guests leisure.
DAY 4 – Rest day in Yungaburra
We have left day 4 open as a rest day for guests to explore YUNGABURRA HISTORIC VILLAGE, enjoy a local meal and visit the quaint INFORMATION CENTRE AND LIBRARY
DAY 5 – Herberton Historic Village, Little Millstream Falls, Mt. Hypipamee Crater and Bromfield Swamp
Today is a big day out. We meet you at 8 am and travel the short distance to HERBERTON HISTORIC VILLAGE. This interesting tour will absorb us for a few hours and we enjoy smoko at the village before transferring to MILLSTREAM FALLS via Ravenshoe.
On our return trip we stop for a short walk to view the unique MT. HYPIPAMEE CRATER and BROMFIELD SWAMP, both relics of the past volcanic activity which shaped the Tablelands. The rest of the evening is at guests leisure.
DAY 6 – Millaa Millaa Waterfall Circuit and Mamu Canopy Walk
Today is fully occupied by the WATERFALL CIRCUIT via Millaa Millaa. We will accompany you and ensure your safety as we explore a range of waterfalls and then transfer to the MAMU CANOPY WALKWAY for magnificent views over the NORTH JOHNSTONE RIVER before returning to Yungaburra.
