Danbulla Rainforest Bike & Walk - Full Day Adventure
A lush tropical rainforest cycle experience on sturdy mountain bikes, packed full of informative stops with short walks. You will appreciate Far North Queensland’s diverse flora and fauna and learn of its natural and human history.
A 9am courtesy shuttle from your accommodation in the Atherton area takes us virtually to the top of the Gillies Range and onto quiet country roads, where our cycling begins. Stopping along the way to experience short walks into the enormous Cathedral Fig Tree, crater lakes Mobo and Euramoo. Cycle first by rolling farmland hills then under a shady rainforest canopy. Ride up to 35km along the undulating Danbulla Forest Drive, both sealed and gravel surfaces, varying in terrain and soil-types.
Please note… There will be a support vehicle giving the group flexibility, but not interfering with our quiet, tropical rainforest experience.
We break for a picnic lunch and an optional splash in the beautiful Kauri Creek where the cool water flows from the rainforest-clad ranges. As we ride on towards Tinaroo Falls Village the vegetation changes to more open eucalypt forest. We finish up at Tinaroo lookout, with views of the impressive dam wall.
Wear whatever you’re comfortable riding and walking in but we recommend you wear sturdy runners, long sleeve shirt and either quick-dry or padded bike shorts, sunglasses, and a hydration pack if you have one (however water bottles are provided). Bring sunscreen and a small backpack. Optional gear includes binoculars and a camera. Your guide will be carrying a First Aid kit.
